About The Covenant

Covenant is a Reformed, Presbyterian Church, established in 2005 in Bengaluru “For the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:9). As a Reformed Church, we adhere to the Reformed Faith, taught in the Bible, articulated by the Westminster Confession of Faith (1642). As a Presbyterian Church, we believe in the plurality of Elders, godly men, called by the Lord Jesus Christ, selected by the congregation, to take care of the spiritual and practical concerns of the ministry of the Church.

Covenant, being a Reformed Church, focuses on the Five Solas of the Reformers, namely, (1) Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), (2) Sola Gratia (Grace Alone), (3) Sola Fide (Faith Alone), (4) Solus Christus (Christ Alone), and (5) Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone). We believe that the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is centered around these points.

As a Reformed Church, Covenant also upholds the fundamental doctrines of the Reformed faith, namely, the Doctrines of Grace. The phrase “Doctrines of Grace” describes the doctrines of salvation the Reformed faith upholds and teachers. These doctrines are summarized with the acronym TULIP. The T stands for Total Depravity, U for Unconditional Election, L for Limited Atonement, I for Irresistible Grace, and P for Perseverance of the Saints. These five points underline the following important truth: (1) God is in control of all things, not man, and He is the source of our salvation; (2) man and woman can do nothing to save themselves; (3) emphasize our total dependency as guilty sinners on the mercy and grace of God alone for salvation; (4) once experienced true salvation by the work of the Holy Spirit (regeneration), God protects and preserves his/her salvation, and (5) all glory belongs to God and God alone!

The centrality of our Sunday Worship is the Word of God. Through expository preaching, the gospel of salvation is clearly explained, and applied. Covenant believes in proclaiming the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), both from the Old and the New Testaments of the Bible, challenging the hearers for a holy life, as the Apostle Paul states in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
